L'uomo , indossare un cappello , sembra giusto , fuori dalla tela , mentre la donna , vestito formalmente e anche con indosso un cappello , fissa vacuamente verso il basso . Un bicchiere riempito con l'omonimo liquido verdastro si trova davanti a lei . il dipinto è una rappresentazione del crescente isolamento sociale a parigi durante la sua fase di rapida crescita . l'opera è ora nella collezione del musée d'Orsay a parigi .
